Calling all cornhole players – show us your competitive side and compete against your fellow ABC-VA members! Join us for some friendly competition and a fun afternoon of networking while giving back to our community. Please note: this event is hosted by the Young Professionals but open to ALL members!

Register early as we are limited to 16 teams (32 players), and we sold out last year! This is a double elimination tournament.

A huge thank-you to United Rentals for keeping us chill — they’re providing cooling equipment to help us beat the heat while you bring your A-game! 🎉

Don’t want to play in the tournament? You can still join us as a spectator. Cheer for your favorite team and enjoy an afternoon of networking while contributing to our cause.

LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE PROGRAM KICKOFF

The 2025 Leadership Institute kicks off on September 25 with a program overview and the ABCs of ABC. Applications for the Leadership Institute are due Friday, September 12, 2025.

The Leadership Institute brings together aspiring leaders that have three or more years in the AEC industry. Our program is designed to enhance the potential of our industry’s rising leaders by helping them to develop a greater self-awareness of their unique leadership style. Current industry leaders will facilitate discussions that encourage active participation.

The curriculum requires reading assignments, an emotional intelligence/personality assessment with a professionally facilitated workshop, social outings and a community service project.

Eligibility

  • Nominee must have worked in the Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) industry for a minimum of three (3) years
  • Nominee must be employed by a member in good standing of the ABC Virginia Chapter
  • Nominee must be able and willing to attend at least nine out of ten sessions to graduate

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS HARD HAT TOUR: MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART @ VIRGINIA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY
Wednesday, July 16, 2025  |  4:00PM – 6:00PM
ABC-VA Young Professionals: join us for an insider view of the Museum of Contemporary Art at Virginia Wesleyan University where we will learn about the PM perspective of this project followed by a tour of the jobsite guided by Hourigan. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early, so the tour can start promptly at 4:00PM. This event is for Young Professionals 40 & under. Please join us after the tour for networking at Commonwealth Brewing Company. 

The new Virginia MOCA facility at Virginia Wesleyan University is a $25 million, 38,000-square-foot state-of-the-art building designed to meet the museum’s growing needs and advanced exhibition capabilities. The construction features a glass-fronted façade for high visibility from the campus entrance and includes modern building systems, such as specialized HVAC for climate control, enhanced artwork security, and efficient back-of-house spaces for logistics and exhibit handling. The facility offers 20% more exhibition space and incorporates sustainable infrastructure, including provisions for solar panel installation.

**PPE is required for this tour: hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses and steel-toe work boots. Attendees must bring their own. You will not be permitted to join the tour without the mentioned PPE at minimum.**
