Join us for an afternoon of friendly competition at ABC-VA Central Virginia’s 1st Annual Cornhole Tournament! Light snacks and drinks will be served, and there will be plenty of time for casual networking.

SPEAKERS
George B. Clarke, IV – President & Founder, MEB George Clarke is the founder and principal owner of MEB. He serves as President and oversees day-to-day operations of the company. George earned a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. George has shaped MEB into what it is today over the last 40+ years. From one of the company’s first small parking lot jobs to now successfully completing $200+ million in work in a year with a 300+ member team. Playing an active role in his local community, George is committed to local charitable and non-profit organizations. He serves on numerous boards and commissions including the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Commission, the Chesapeake Division of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, and Virginia Tech’s Myers-Lawson School of Construction.
Mark Olmstead – Executive Vice President, MEB Mark Olmstead has been with MEB since 1983, currently serving as Executive Vice President. He graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Environmental Science. Mark started his career at MEB as a Quality Control Representative working his way to a Project Manager on projects for the Navy and Army Corp of Engineers, to where he is today as Executive Vice President. He oversees personnel, management, and strategic planning for MEB’s corporate initiatives. Mark is the former District President for the Associated General Contractors of Virginia, a member of the State of Virginia Board of Directors for the AGC, a certified LEED AP, and the former President of the Hampton Roads Chapter of the Design-Build Institute of America DBIA.
David Ervin – Executive Vice President, MEB David Ervin serves as Executive Vice President. He started at MEB in 1993 after graduating from Virginia Tech with a B.S. degree in Building Construction. David oversees all projects and personnel under MEB’s Water/Wastewater and Environmental/Resiliency markets and is a key player in corporate operations. David has significant experience in work procurement and forming successful partnerships with other contractors, engineers, and owners. Clients of past projects include HRSD, City of Richmond, Smithfield, Norfolk Southern, Philip Morris, United States Navy, the Army Corps of Engineers, and more. He has significant experience as a Project Executive on Fast Track Design-Build projects as a certified Design-Build Professional (DBIA). He is an active member of Associated General Contractors of Virginia.

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS HARD HAT TOUR: THE FAISON CENTER
Wednesday, June 14, 2023 | 3:30PM – 5:00PM
Join ABC-VA’s Young Professionals (YPs) for a hard hat tour of Hourigan’s Faison Center at the Early Education Center at Markel Hall. Dr. Byron Wine, Chief Program Officer, will kick off the tour with a brief overview of the facility. The third phase of work at The Faison Center, the Early Education Center at Markel Hall will allow Faison to double its early education enrollment and continue its partnership with Westhampton Day School. The new facility is catered to serve more children under 5 years old who are diagnosed with autism.
Following the tour, we’ll head to a nearby restaurant for networking, drinks and light appetizers. If you’re under 40, you don’t want to miss this event!
**PPE is required for this tour: hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses and steel-toe work boots. Attendees must bring their own.**

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS HARD HAT TOUR: ODU HEALTH SCIENCES BUILDING
Tuesday, June 20, 2023 | 4:00PM-6:30PM
Join ABC-VA’s Young Professionals (YPs) for a hard hat tour of Hourigan’s Old Dominion University Health Sciences Building. The Health Sciences building integrates a cross-disciplinary approach to the academic field, housing the school’s Dental Hygiene, Rehabilitation Science, and Medical Diagnostics and Translational Sciences (MDTS).
The new 128,750 GSF, multi-story building will house clinical teaching labs and support spaces for programs in environmental health, gross anatomy, cytology, hematology, microbiology, instrumentation, clinical chemistry, molecular diagnostic, nuclear medicine, and dental materials. The facility includes simulation spaces for inter-professional education, dental hygiene, Physical Therapy/Athletic Training/Occupational Therapy, and a clinical services center that will serve the surrounding community. Associated faculty and departmental administrative offices of the College of Health Sciences will be included along with student success support areas. The building will be certified LEED Silver pending completion.
