There’s no need to sugarcoat it – public speaking and effective communication aren’t typically a crew leader’s favorite part of the job. But we all know it’s a crucial aspect of every successful project. Dave Thompson is bridging the gap by providing a practical approach to becoming an effective trainer in this class geared towards all frontline supervisors, trainers and safety personnel.

Dave Thompson has been involved in the construction industry for 35 years and has been a safety professional for twenty-two of those. He is the Safety Director for Henderson, Inc., of Williamsburg, VA, and the Lead Instructor for ABC-VA Hampton Roads. Dave also sits on the VA State Corporation Commission’s Advisory Committee for Miss Utility representing excavators and holds a CHST.

Topics include, but not limited to:
– What topics are required by OSHA and NAVFAC that are best done in the field?
– Basic training theory
– How to run an effective toolbox/job site safety meeting
– How to speak with a translator
– How to properly document the training

There will also be practical training so your trainer-to-be can put what they’re learning to good use in a safe, judgement-free zone!

This isn’t your average soft skills class taught by some guru with decades of communications experience. This class is taught by someone that’s had boots on the ground for numerous years and has learned to embrace public speaking. Who better to learn from?
