FALL PROTECTION TRAINER Thursday, April 17, 2025  |  8:00AM – 4:00PM REGISTER HERE Falls are the Leading Cause of Death in Construction. In 2021, there were 390 fatal falls out of the 951 construction fatalities (BLS data). These deaths are preventable. This course will help you plan, prepare and deliver fall protection training to your workers to prevent injuries and fatalities from falls. Objective: This program provides the elements to develop a good Fall Protection Training Program to include: Determine fall protection training needs Identify goals and objectives Identify materials and information necessary to train employees Develop learning activities (i.e., lecture, on-the-job, hands-on, discussion, or a combination of all of these) Conduct the training each student will be responsible to develop and present an assigned topic on fall protection to the class and be evaluated on that presentation. Evaluate the Program Prerequisite: In order to attend this course you must have completed the OSHA 3115 FALL PROTECTION course within the last 12 months and provide the CRSC with a copy of your course completion certificate. CPR, AED & FIRST AID CERTIFICATION Thursday, April 24, 2025  |  8:30AM - 12:30PM ABC Virginia certifies hundreds of individuals each year in First-Aid and CPR/AED using the Health Safety Institute’s (HSI) training content.  ABC-VA’s primary goal is to create confidence in its students’ abilities to handle emergency situations. Our instructors provide clear explanations of the subject matter in a relaxed environment. Instructors focus on the importance of controlling, with confidence, medical emergencies and providing life support for victims of sudden illness or injury.  The certification issued to each participant is valid for two years. OSHA 3015 - EXCAVATION, TRENCHING AND SOIL MECHANICS This is a Chesapeake Region Safety Council course - REGISTER HERE June 9 - 11, 2025 | 8:00AM - 4:00PM Offered by Mid Atlantic OTI Education Center, this course will be held at the ABC-VA Hampton Roads Training Facility, Host Training Organization This course covers the OSHA Excavation Standard and safety and health aspects of excavation and trenching.  Course topics include practical soil mechanics and its relationship to the stability of shored and unshored slopes and walls of excavations, introduction of various types of shoring (wood timbers and hydraulic), soil classification, and use of protective systems.  Testing methods are demonstrated and students participate in workshops in the use of instruments such as penetrometers, torvane shears, and engineering rods.  Upon course completion students will have the ability to assess their employer’s compliance with the OSHA Excavation Standard, utilize soil testing methods to classify soil types, determine protective systems for excavation operations, and training requirements. NEC 2020 UPDATE COURSE ABC Virginia is offering the 2020 NEC Update in order to accommodate Continuing Education requirements. The Individual License and Certification Regulations adopted by the Board for Contractors, Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation, on April 1, 2007 (18 VAC 50-30-120) provide that all individuals renewing a journeyman or masters license after December 1, 2007, shall be required to satisfactorily complete a continuing education course from a provider approved by the board.
